All content teachers, not just language teachers, must provide students with language support if they are to succeed.
English learners make up a large and ever-increasing proportion of the school age population, especially in Southern California. However, there are different proficiency levels and learning needs within this group. This booklet serves as a guide for mathematics teachers working with such students by providing an assessment to identify the proficiency level of each English learner student. Appropriate activities and resources by level are then provided.
